Your yard looks like sand. Do you have one of the following - garden sieve, large seedling tray (lots of holes in the bottom - mine is rectangular black plastic) or an old sieve you'd be prepared to condemn to the garden?
If yes, shovel the top layer of your yard bit by bit into a sieving device to sift the baby thorn trees out of your 'top soil'.
I'm doing something similar to reduce the amount of nut grass I have in my garden beds but I have to dig quite deep for those so it's only so effective. Works to get rid of large stones and bits of fibro though.
